First, a person sends an anonymous message (wink) to a recipient.

The recipient gets to guess who sent it, if they guess correctly, their guess is confirmed.

A correct guess reveals the sender's name and email. The recipient is free to contact the sender if they wish.

When a recipient guesses correctly, the sender is notified via email.

This is accommodated using an upgraded wink. Upgraded winks allow the sender to specify up to 3 name spellings. A guess that matches any of the 3 names will be successful.

An individual may send up to 3 winks per day.

An individual may receive up to 3 winks per day.

An individual can have only 1 active wink to a given recipient at a time.

Individuals who have requested permanent removal from email contact may not send or receive winks.

Primarily, this restriction helps prevent abuse by moderating a user's ability to send more than 1 wink to the same person.

Please note: We generally try to discourage people from deleting winks. We want this to be a fun service for everyone, and a deleted wink isn't any fun for a recipient!

If you sent a wink mistakenly and don't want to upgrade it in order to delete it, please send a request from our Contact page. Please be sure to include the wink URL sent to you via email. We cannot promise immediate action, but we do our best to respond to these requests within 48 hours.

How soon can I edit/delete an upgraded wink? Immediately following payment.

How long does an upgrade last? An upgrade is good for as long as the wink is in our system -- there is currently no time limit. However, wink edits are only applicable to active winks.

How many times can I edit a wink? Wink edits are unlimited while the wink is active.

How long is a wink active? A wink is active until it is deleted by the sender.

Which aspects of a wink can I edit? You can edit the following fields: Sender's name; Alternate spellings of the Sender's name; Number of Guesses; Optional Message.

Which aspects of a wink can I not edit? You cannot edit the following fields: Sender's email address; recipient's name; recipient's email address.
